چکیده

Echinococcus granulosus is endemic in the Magallanes region and other areas of Chile. After a successful control programme implemented between 1979 2004, dogs’ prevalence decreased from 70% to 0.5%. Since end programme, no study canine echinococcosis has been performed this region. Dog faecal samples were collected epidemiological units for DNA isolation polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detect E. granulosus. In addition, dog owners required answer questionnaire risk factor analysis. We 1069 environmental 267 urban, 241 periurban, 61 rural units. was found 11/61 (18%) 1/241 (0.4%) periurban areas, respectively. The Ultima Esperanza province showed highest with eight out 16 faeces positive showing main spatial cluster echinococcosis. None factors investigated statistical significance This shows active transmission parasite region, especially province, possible re-emergence parasite. Further studies focusing on incidence humans are together reestablishment compulsory deworming dogs.

First molecular characterization of Echinococcus granulosus (sensu stricto) genotype 1 among cattle in Sudan

BACKGROUND Echinococcus granulosus sensu lato (s.l.) is the causative agent of cystic echinococcosis (CE), which is a cosmopolitan zoonotic parasitic disease infecting humans and a wide range of mammalian species including cattle. Currently, little information is available on the genetic diversity of Echinococcus species among livestock in Sudan. In the present study, fifty (n = 50) hydatid cys...

Cases of Echinococcus granulosus Sensu Stricto Isolated from Polish Patients: Imported or Indigenous?

The cases of nine Polish patients with diagnosed cystic echinococcosis (CE) were examined. A total of nine isolates obtained postoperatively were investigated using PCR and sequencing. The mitochondrial region of nad1 gene was amplified. This PCR and sequencing analysis revealed the presence of Echinococcus canadensis G7 in seven patients and E. granulosus G1 in two patients. These data demonst...

Detection of Echinococcus granulosus infection in dogs

Cystic Echinococcosis is an important zoonosis in the sheep rising areas of Iran. To develop a simple and reliable diagnostic method for Echinococcus infection in definitive hosts, E. granulosus polyoclonal antibodies (PolyAbs) were prepared from adult worm in rabbit. A selected PoAb was used for coproantigen detection in faecal samples obtained from animals naturally infected with Echinococcus...
